DOT Blitz Week, officially known as the CVSA International Road check, is one of the biggest safety inspection events in North America. Happening this year from May 13–15, 2025, it’s a 72-hour period when commercial motor vehicle inspectors across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico step up enforcement to ensure drivers and trucks are road-ready and in compliance.

What’s the Focus in 2025?

Each year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) selects key focus areas for inspections. In 2025, inspectors will zero in on:

  • Tire Health – Inspectors will check tread depth, inflation levels, and any visible damage.

  • Hours of Service (HOS) Compliance – Ensuring that drivers aren’t overworking and logs are properly maintained.

These are high-violation areas that can sideline trucks and cost carriers time, money, and reputation.

Why It Matters

In the 2024 blitz, nearly 50,000 inspections were conducted. About 23% of vehicles and almost 5% of drivers were placed out of service. Common issues? Brake violations, tire problems, and HOS errors. For carriers, these inspections are a make-or-break moment that can affect CSA scores and customer confidence.

How to Get Ready

  1. Daily Pre-Trip Inspections – Especially focus on tires, lights, and brakes.

  2. Verify Logs – Review ELD data and make sure drivers understand HOS rules.

  3. Maintenance Checks – Fix any pending mechanical issues before the blitz.

  4. Coach Your Drivers – Teach them what to expect and how to handle roadside inspections confidently.

Taking these steps ahead of time can keep your trucks rolling and your drivers calm during the inspection window.
