INDIANAPOLIS, IN – President, Greg Humrichouser, has a passion outside of Direct Connect Logistix, Inc., running. In a routine visit to St. Vincent Sports Performance to nurse a sore hamstring, Humrichouser crossed paths with a sports idol of his, 12x Olympic gold medalist, LaShawn Merritt.

Merritt, born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, recorded the fifth fastest 400m of all time at 43.75 seconds. In 2008, as a member of the United States Olympic track team, the 6’ 2” track star highlighted his career with an impressive 43.75 second 400m victory over Jeremy Wariner (0.99 second margin – largest in an Olympic 400m final), reigning World and Olympic champion.

Humrichouser, holds a high level of appreciation for Merritt together as an athlete and as a role model as well. On March 14, 2018, Greg and Betsy Humrichouser received a blessing in their family by adopting Merritt Denny Humrichouser. Exactly two months before he met the inspiration behind the name of his newborn son, on May 14, 2018.

“LaShawn Merritt is one of the most decorated male track athletes of all time. When you look at his accomplishments and what it took him to get to where he is, it’s life changing to get an opportunity to finally meet him. My son will have one awesome story to tell when he get’s older, and if he doesn’t then I definitely will,” says Humrichouser when asked about his encounter and experience meeting LaShawn Merritt.

LaShawn Merritt continues to show off his power on the track. Recently, Merritt strolls into a 20.57 second 200m victory in the Grenada Invitational.
